The story:

All Hell Breaks Loose

If you watch and like South Park (the series) then you'll know what to expect from this. Imagine an extra long episode with all the swearing bleeps taken out and some musical numbers thrown in. Imagine these songs have names like 'Uncle Fxxker' and 'Kyle's Mum's a Bitch (the old favourite). Sound good? Well now go and order this DVD! If you don't like the series then this probably isn't going to change things. The characters are Cartman (the Homer Simpson of the series - every moment he's onscreen he has you in stitches! respect my authoritah!) is the fat vulgar one, Kenny is the orange anorak wearing dude that dies every episode (you killed Kenny...you bastards!) and Stan and Kyle are the other 2 that you always get mixed up. The story begins with the guys sneaking into an R-rated Canadian movie called Asses of Fire, starring Terrance and Philip. As Cartman puts it: 'The movie has warped my fragile little mind' and soon the whole school has seen the film and are all swearing like the foul-mouthed Canadian stars. Their parents are horrified and declare war on Canada. Satan and Saddam Hussien however have other plans...

The summary:

The whole film is basically set out in the style of a musical. The songs are based mainly on songs from Disney films like The Little Mermaid and most songs are excellent enough to make you want to buy the soundtrack to this anyway. The moment the Terrance and Philip film starts you know where this is going. It's a laugh-a-minute fest of swearing, vulgarity and political incorrectness. Exactly the same things in fact that made the series such a hit. This time the leash is off and the kids launch into a 4-letter frenzy - Around 499 swear words in this and most of them begin with 'F'. If you're easily offended then this obviously isn't for you. That also goes if you happen to be a sensitive Jew, Black, Gay, Middle-Eastern Dictator etc. etc..

Brilliantly done - it's a definite thumbs up from us. But as I mentioned above - it's not going to be to everyone's taste. And definitely not one for the kids. It's the film and soundtrack all rolled into one. It's just a pity there isn't more supplementary material on this DVD - a link to each song would have been nice. A commentary would have been the icing on the cake.

Extras:

* Three Theatrical Trailers - An amusing addition - the trailers are all worth watching. Nice touch to include all three. It's a pity that it's all you get.

Our Verdict...

Hilarious. Totally politically incorrect in it's entirety but apart from that, good harmless cheap humor. 9/10

Bold, bright, colourful, badly drawn.. Hey come on - it's a cartoon for petes sake! 8/10

Nicely done. Plenty of musical scenes with the orchestra booming from around the room. 8/10

Just the trailers but there are 3 of them. Shame there isn't an intro by Trey and Matt, like they include on the series. Nice French dubbed soundtrack - worth a listen! 1/10
