The
story:
This
seems like the easiest job in the world !
Louis Theroux's Weird Weekend series finally comes to DVD.
This double disc edition highlights of the four best episodes
from his travels. Also includes a bonus episode of When
Louis met...Jimmy.
'Porn':
Louis strips off and plunges into the world of porn. From
the glossy high end productions to the sleazy "gonzo" flicks,
he gets intimate with the men and women who bang for kicks.
But is it all as fun as it seems? And what happens if you
can't get wood?
'Survivalists':
Louis travels to the American North West, a place where
survivalists, white separatist's, and paranoid "freedom
fighters" are arming themselves against the New World Order.
Meet the radical nuts and noodles who shoot first and ask
questions later.
'Gangsta Rap': Louis storms the ghettos of the Dirty South
with his own unique Gangsta Rap Flava. But how will the
real life players and pimps take to a rapper who enjoys
fine wines and playing with kittens? And when they talk
about "slapping bitches," that's a joke, right?
'UFOs': Louis has a close encounter with a community of
hardcore UFO believers in the South West of America - but
not even an illicit foray into the ultra top secret Area
51 military base and a garbled message from the planet Koldas
can answer all his questions.
'When
Louis Met Jimmy': He's an ex-coal miner, ex-wrestler, Mensa
member, cigar smoker, and professional enigma. But will
Sir Jimmy Saville OBE manage to keep his secrets from Louis?
And will they be able to live together for ten days without
strangling each other? The cult documentary which showed
the world a side of Jimmy never before seen.
The
summary:
Louis
theroux's calm, humble and ordinary approach to documentary
making has captured him a cult following over the past few
years on BBC2. Starting out with Weird Weekends he travelled
the world seeking out the most obscure and obsessive sub
cultures imaginable. He has more recently moved onto the
"when Louis met..." series of interviews where
he immerses himself in his subjects lifestyle and gives
us a much truer picture of them than we have ever seen before.
The success of his documentaries has proven that the public
cannot get enough of the darker (and sometimes plain oddball)
side of life and the unique way in which Louis Theroux brings
this to the screen. For me he is one of the freshest documentary
makers around and I would challenge anyone not to enjoy
his programmes.
This
very well packaged DVD edition is Louis' own choices of
the four best episodes from Weird Weekends. The DVD also
includes a bonus episode of "When louis met Jimmy"
which is not available on any other medium. It is a must
have for fans or newcomers alike and on our recommendation
should become a valuable part of your collection.
