The
story:
Twelve
terrorists. One cop. The odds are against John McClane...
That's just the way he likes it.
Its
Christmas Eve at Nakatomi Plaza in south central Los Angeles
and the party is in full swing. John Mclane (Bruce Willis)
is a hard hitting, wisecracking, New York cop on route from
the airport to meet his wife (Bonnie Bedelia) at the party.
A team of international terrorists led by the infamous Hans
Gruber (Alan Rickman) take control of the building and take
everyone hostage. Alone & barefoot, Mclane manages to
escape unnoticed and he is the only man that can save them.
Armed with just his service revolver and his sense of humour
he declares war on the terrorists. He is cold, hungry and
scared but he must alert the police to the atrocities. He
is an easy man to like, but a hard man to kill and the thrilling
battle that follows cannot be lost for the sake of the hostages,
his wife and his family !
The
summary:
This
film truly is one of the most original action movies ever
made. Its the film that launched Bruce Willis from mediocrity
in Moonlighting to international superstardom overnight...
Well OK I might be biased, this is one of my all time top
ten films, but film fans everywhere have made this a classic
of its genre. Superbly paced and scripted the films premise
of an ordinary cop placed in an extraordinary situation
makes for an enjoyable concoction of pure action and adrenalin.
The main thing that sets this apart is that the hero of
the piece is flawed. He gets hurt, he feels pain, he gets
scared, unlike most action heroes who seem to be bullet
proof. If you want your action screaming and your explosions
booming then this is the film for you my friend. Enjoy.
