The story:

Things are gonna get hairy !

Cats and dogs, known to mankind only as cuddly pets and man's best friend, have engaged in a fierce and merciless battle: Mr. Tinkles (Sean Hayes), a ruthless cat, is plotting intensively to achieve nothing less than world domination. His main target is Professor Brody (Jeff Goldblum), who is working on a medicine to rid people from dog hair allergies. Yet Mr. Tinkles strives to get to the substance, analyze it and then have it turned into a means of rendering all humans of the world aggressively allergic to any kind of dog. Cats would rule, as dogs would then be exterminated. But Mr. Tinkles did not bother to waste any thoughts on little Lou (Tobey Maguire), the Brody family's new puppy, who never before has heard of dog agents and the major protective mission they fulfill towards the unsuspecting Brody family. Together with Butch (Alec Baldwin) and a few other dog agents from the neighbourhood, Lou desperately tries to hinder Mr. Tinkles in his sinister plans to take over the world.

The summary:

Bright ideas are hard to come by in movieland. This is most certainly not one of them. A "kids" film that masquerades as a "kids film that adults would like" that is definitely one of the stinkers of its time. Forget Toy Story and Ants this is nothing like as good !

The film centres around Mr Tinkles (Sean Hayes) attempts to take over the world for the cats. On the good side is Lou (Tobey Maguire) a dog that has to save the world. It relies heavily on spy references and tries to emulate Austin Powers in that respect, except Austin Powers is a delightfully referential movie and proves to be funny.

This movie cannot make is mind up and is basically a kids movie that uses unfunny "humour" and loads of special effects to try and dazzle. It degenerates in a mess and adults will hate it. It does make me wonder what kids will find this enjoyable. Its mindless pap that we hated and you can too if you buy it. It is movies like this that make you question your integrity as a reviewer.

Thats all I want to say quite frankly. See our shorts to the right for disc details.

Our Verdict...

Fantastically bad kids only movie that will have adults tearing their hair our after 5 minutes. bad story, bad acting and overall a waste of time of "Runaway Bride" proportions 2/10

A very good picture indeed with great colour levels and virtually no saturation. The CGIs are great and you will have to look hard to find a better looking picture 9/10

A slightly low key soundtrack despite all the gunfire, explosions and madness. Maybe they thought it wasn't worth it for a kids film!
. 7/10
