The
story:
The fate of a nation rests on the courage of one man.
Thriller
about the steadfast US President (Harrison Ford) who goes
to Moscow and announces to the world that he will not negotiate
with terrorists. Defiant Russian Neo-nationalists hijack
the Presidents plane - Air Force One and demand the release
of a captive terrorist. On board the plane are the Presidents
family and staff. He finds himself faced with the impossible
decision - should he go against his promise to his country
and release the terrorist or risk the lives of his wife
and daughter?
The
summary:
Having Harrison Ford as the lead in a film is never a bad
thing and it's a sure fire way to get bums on seats in the
cinemas. With a proven track record in action films he once
again delivers the goods in this fine action-thriller. Ford
seems to slip into the role of President with ease - perhaps
an even more successful career after movies lies ahead!?
He plays a very authoritative presidential figure who is
devoted to his family and the American dream. Gary Oldman,
as always plays the villain of the plot and strikes the
menacing terrorist who is trying to free his brother from
jail very well. Oh, and have I mentioned that the President
was a former Medal of Honor winner? There's always something
the terrorists don't plan for. There's gonna be some severe
ass-kickin going down. . A round of applause for all the
supporting cast too, including a great performance from
Glenn Close who plays the Vice-president. The story, though
not without faults gives it an above-average rating in it's
genre. With most of the scenes set aboard Air Force One
no opportunity is wasted in adding all the airborne camera
tricks and sound effects known to man. The result is visual
eye-candy for us DVD lovers. A perfect transfer shows just
why the format was invented in the first place. As fighter
jets scream round your house and you witness a heart-stopping
scene of the president hanging midair from the plane, you
can cast a sneering glance as the defunct VHS doorstop under
the telly.
