The
story:
And
when we're comin' you're gonna hear this...
Rufus
and pals are back in this shocking follow-up to Bumfights:Cause
For Concern. Despite four arrests and felony charges, the
producers continue on their quest to make stars of Bling-Bling
and Rufus. You'll see bums fighting bums, chick fights,
bum stunts, sick pranks, crackheads, street-fights, crime
caught on tape and of course the BumHunter. Need we say
more?
The summary:
If
you thought Bumfights: Cause For Concern was shocking then
you ain't seen nothing yet. Four arrests and felony charges
later, the producers have learnt nothing other than there's
money to be made from street-fights and abusing the homeless.
Rufus may have hung up his shopping trolley but it seems
there's plenty of bums willing to take his place. So long
as it pays $20 and their hospital bills are covered.. The
original Bumfights caused quite a stir, particularly in
the US and all the major TV channels wanted to grill the
infamous producers. Little did they know that they were
merely spreading the word, driving up sales and providing
priceless footage for the follow-up!
Little
has changed in the formula but Bumfights 2 seems to have
lost some of the humour and gone all out for shocks. That's
not to say Bumfights didn't shock, but the sight of one
young bum having his front teeth ripped out with pliers
is almost too much to watch. Worse still was possibly the
grossest moment ever committed to DVD - a desperate bum
if forced to earn back his pawned guitar by eating a dead
but uncooked frog. Not just the body but the head, skin,
legs - the lot! Of course, within hours he'd pawned the
guitar again.
Even
more incredible than desperate bums willing to do anything
for little cash, is the ones that are willing to have themselves
filmed committing crimes. Nothing too minor you understand,
a bit of mugging, some breaking into cars. What could they
have been paid to have their faces and crimes filmed? I
can't understand why the authorities try to ban this, surely
it's doing them a favour! As for the rest of the footage
it's mainly ruckus and prank stuff - nothing sensational
and most doesn't match up to the quality of the first. The
BumHunter scenes that provided most of the laughs in the
original seem to resort to kidnapping rather than his hilarious
bum-studies. It's all a bit of an anticlimax really, but
that's only because it set high standards before.
The
DVD itself is really nothing but functional. All scenes
are filmed with a handheld camcorder and most of the ruckus
scenes are of poor quality. But still, this wasn't filmed
in a studio so what do you expect? With Bumfights 3 on the
way the Bumfights fanbase will keep increasing and the content
will pushing the boundaries of acceptability even further.
It's not quite essential but worthwhile viewing, but only
if this is your thing. Everyone else would be advised to
steer well clear..
